Hoeven Directs Flags Flown At Half-Staff In Honor Of Hurricane Katrina Victims

BISMARCK , N.D. - In accordance with a proclamation by President George W. Bush, and to honor the memory of the thousands of hurricane victims in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, Gov. John Hoeven today directed all state and national flags on public buildings in North Dakota to be flown at half-staff until sunset, Tuesday, September 20, 2005.

“As we join the nation in working to bring tangible relief to the thousands of men, women and children who are still displaced and suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we pause to mourn the dead and recognize the tremendous hardship of the living by lowering our flags,” Hoeven said.
