Hoeven Announces NWA Agreement To Upgrade Flights
Bismarck, Grand Forks To Receive More Seats Than Originally Planned
BISMARCK , N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that Northwest Airlines will modify previously announced changes to their airline schedule to add seats on one flight a day in and out of Bismarck and Grand Forks. A morning Bismarck round-trip flight will be upgraded from a regional jet to a DC-9, adding 50 seats. In Grand Forks, 18 seats will be added per day with an upgrade from a turbo-prop aircraft to a regional jet on one morning round-trip flight.
“Last week we met with Northwest Airlines officials, Senator Dorgan and community leaders to discuss air service issues in North Dakota,” Hoeven said. “We appreciate their efforts in modifying their service plan to include additional seats in Bismarck and Grand Forks, but we still hope for additional adjustments.”
Hoeven said that last week’s meeting focused on restoring seating capacity to two of North Dakota’s four major airports, which was reduced last month when the company announced a new service plan for North Dakota. Minot gained a few seats in the airline’s plan, and Fargo’s jet service was re-evaluated so that no seating capacity would be lost.
“Quality air service is critical as we continue to expand and grow our state,” Hoeven said. “We will continue to work with Northwest Airlines to ensure that we meet the travel needs of our citizens.”
