Hoeven Proclaims Day Of Prayer And Remembrance For Hurricane Katrina Victims
BISMARCK , N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today proclaimed Friday, September 16 a Day of Prayer and Remembrance in North Dakota for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The proclamation supports a similar declaration made by President Bush to remember and support those who have been impacted by one of the worst natural disasters in this nation’s history.
“This day is set aside for all of us to remember the lives that have been lost and to pray for those who continue to be displaced from their homes, communities and loved ones,” Hoeven said. “Many of our fellow Americans are experiencing great hardship, and through our prayers and acts of kindness, we can help ease their burden and restore their lives.”
In addition to prayers and observances, Hoeven is encouraging North Dakotans to continue providing assistance to the relief efforts through donations of time, money and needed goods.
“By contributing what we can to relief organizations and by praying for those who suffer, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who have experienced such devastation and heartbreak,” Hoeven said.
