Hoeven Announces $1 Million EDA Grant For Northern Plains Commerce Centre
BISMARCK , N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration has awarded $1 million for the Northern Plains Commerce Centre (NPCC), a proposed freight handling facility in Bismarck. The funding will be used for the construction of site improvements and infrastructure.
The Vision Fund has also committed funding to the $3.8 million project infrastructure, and the city of Bismarck is applying for a $1.2 million Railway Loan Fund from the N.D. Department of Transportation. The NPCC will help to create 100 new jobs, save 850 jobs and generate more than $16.5 million in private sector investment.
“We worked hard through the Department of Commerce to secure these funds,” Hoeven said. “Bobcat has already committed to an expansion in the NPCC, and this project will promote the growth and development of other companies, as well, creating more quality jobs for our citizens.”
“I want to thank Gov. Hoeven for all his hard work and effort to secure this EDA grant on behalf of the NPCC project,” said Mayor John Warford. “The project will be a great boon not only to the state, but to the region.”
