Hoeven Announces Department Of Justice Grant For Turtle Mountain Community College
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded the Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt more than $345,000 to expand legal justice curricula at tribal colleges, increase the number of Native Americans trained in tribal government and law, and strengthen government and judicial systems. The grant was awarded through the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Congressionally Mandated Awards program.
“Expanding the college’s Project Peacemaker and strengthening judicial systems and legal justice curricula are important for the Turtle Mountain reservation, as well as other tribal governments and colleges across the state,” Hoeven said. “These funds will help expand justice assistance programs so we can continue to keep our communities safe.”
