North Dakota To Lower Flags To Half Staff In Honor Of Rosa Parks
BISMARCK, N.D. – In accordance with a proclamation by President George W. Bush, and as a mark of respect for the memory of Rosa Parks, Gov. John Hoeven today directed that the flags of the United States and North Dakota shall be flown at half-staff at the Capitol in Bismarck and upon all public buildings and grounds throughout North Dakota from sunrise until sundown on the day of her interment, Wednesday, November 2.
“Rosa Parks demonstrated not just in words, but in deeds, the powerful moral authority of a lone individual in the face of seemingly overwhelming injustice,” Hoeven said. “Her life embodied the supremacy of right over might, and for that we honor her on the day of her interment.”
