First Lady Mikey Hoeven Promotes Importance Of Reading In Read For 2006 Celebration
First Lady Donates Books To Meritcare Children's Hospital
BISMARCK, N.D. – First Lady Mikey Hoeven has signed on to be an Ambassador of Reading for North Dakota, as part of the seventh annual Scholastic Book Clubs Read for 2006 initiative. In conjunction with this initiative, Hoeven today read to patients from MeritCare Children’s Hospital and donated 500 books to the hospital.
“Scholastic Read for 2006 is a great way to promote literacy throughout North Dakota,” Hoeven said. “Reading is such an integral part of the learning process for children and we are thankful to Scholastic Books for enabling us to make this an annual event in North Dakota.”
Joining the First Lady in the Read for 2006 celebration are Gubernatorial First Spouses in states across the country.
