Hoeven Directs Flags Flown At Half-Staff For Coretta Scott King

BISMARCK, N.D. - In accordance with President George W. Bush’s proclamation ordering that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff on the day of her interment, Governor Hoeven today ordered the flag of North Dakota flown at half-staff until sunset, Tuesday, February 7, 2006, in honor of Coretta Scott King.

The Governor’s order applies to the North Dakota State Capitol, and to all public buildings and grounds in the State of North Dakota.

“Coretta Scott King, in her own right and with great dignity and moral conviction, helped to move our nation toward greater justice and equality for all,” Hoeven said. “Today we honor her memory and her legacy.”

President Bush issued a proclamation Monday ordering the United States flag flown at half-staff throughout the nation and the world.
