Hoeven Welcomes Delta Fargo Service, Encourages Service To Additional North Dakota Cities And Points East

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today said he was pleased Delta Airlines has agreed to begin service west to and from Fargo. The airline announced today that it will begin two roundtrip regional jet flights between Fargo and its Salt Lake City hub on June 8.

Three airlines now serve the city, including Northwest Airlines, United Express and Allegiant Air. The new service to Salt Lake City will provide access to more than 100 western cities, including Phoenix, San Diego and Los Angeles.

“This is an important addition to our air service in North Dakota, enhancing both business and leisure travel to the western part of the country,” Hoeven said. “We will continue to encourage the airline to bring service to other North Dakota communities, as well as to eastbound destinations.”

Hoeven worked with Hector International Airport Executive Director Shawn Dobberstein and the Fargo Airport Authority to persuade Delta to implement service to North Dakota, including contacts with Delta CEO Gerald Grinstein and other airline officials.
