Hoeven Statement On The Death Of Spc. Michael L. Hermanson In Iraq
BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to the death of SPC. Michael L. Hermanson, who died in combat Tuesday while patrolling south of Balad, Iraq.
"Today is a sad day for the Hermanson family and for our state. Spc. Michael Hermanson, a native son of North Dakota, lost his life in Iraq Tuesday serving his country. Michael was serving with the Minot-based Alpha Company, 164th Engineer Battalion. He made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, and as this Memorial Day approaches, we pledge never to forget his courage or his selflessness.
"I know Mikey and I are joined by all North Dakotans in mourning Michael's death. We extend our deepest sympathy to his parents, Layne and Scharlotta, his sister Lindsey, and to all his family and friends. Our hearts and prayers are with the entire Hermanson family, and with all those who still serve overseas in harms way to secure peace and liberty."
