Hoeven Announces $331,757 Economic Development Administration Grant To City Of Northwood
BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. John Hoeven announced today that the city of Northwood will receive an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant of $331,757 to upgrade the city’s electrical distribution center to provide municipal power to the community’s expanding industrial area. The project will create more than 17 jobs, and generate more than $7.5 million in private sector investment.
“An expanding industrial sector is dependent on reliable and affordable electricity, and this funding will help Northwood further enhance its attractive utility services,” Hoeven said. “We have established a strong relationship with the EDA, and we appreciate their help. We extend our congratulations to Mayor Richard Johnson and all who were involved in writing Northwood’s strong application.”
In May, Hoeven hosted Assistant Secretary Sandy Baruah, of the U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration. The Secretary presented a $1.5 million EDA grant to the city of Minot for its planned intermodal facility, and awarded North Dakota State University’s Research and Technology Park the EDA award for Excellence in Technology-led Economic Development. Hoeven also hosted Baruah for a tour of several North Dakota businesses, including Microsoft in Fargo.
