Governor To Honor Veterans And North Dakota Military
Hoeven Proclaims "Veterans Awareness Week"
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven will honor North Dakota’s veterans and service men and women on Veterans Day, November 11, at a service beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Memorial Hall of the state Capitol building in Bismarck.
“Throughout our history, generations of heroes have stepped forward when their country needed them, defending freedom, liberating countries and setting a standard of courage and idealism for the entire world,” Hoeven said. “Our brave men and women in uniform who have served, and continue to serve today, have selflessly placed this nation’s security before their own, and for that sacrifice, we will forever be grateful.”
Hoeven proclaimed this week “Veterans Awareness Week” in North Dakota to honor the contributions of veterans and those currently serving at home and abroad. He encouraged North Dakotans to commemorate this observance by recognizing veterans through ceremonies and patriotic activities, and by displaying the American flag.
“It is important for all citizens to recognize the significant contributions our veterans and those currently serving have made to preserve the freedoms we enjoy every day,” Hoeven said. “We must never forget the individual sacrifices that were made on our behalf, or those who gave their lives so that others could live in a free and democratic nation.”
