BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Thursday, December 7, 2006, the 65th anniversary of the attack at Pearl Harbor.
"Generations of American soldiers have risked their lives in defense of this great nation," Hoeven said. "We honor all of our veterans on this day, and we thank them for their incredible service to our country."
Congress has designated December 7 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, and President George W. Bush signed a proclamation ordering flags to be flown at half-staff nationwide.
