Hoeven Directs Flags To Be Flown At Half-Staff To Commemorate Virginia Tech Shootings
BISMARCK, N.D. - In accordance with a proclamation by President George W. Bush, Gov. John Hoeven today has directed flags throughout North Dakota to be flown at half-staff through sunset on Sunday to commemorate the 32 people killed on the Virginia Tech campus.
“Mikey and I extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who died in this senseless, brutal incident in Virginia,” Hoeven said. “I know the thoughts and prayers of all North Dakotans are united in sympathy for those who were injured, and those who mourn the tragic loss of their loved ones.”
Including the gunman, 33 individuals on the campus died Monday in a shooting spree. The killer took his own life. Virginia authorities have identified the gunman as a student of South Korean descent who was a resident in one of the university’s dormitories.
