Hoeven Announces Resignation Of Twin Buttes School Board Members
BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. John Hoeven today announced that Twin Buttes School Board President Melissa Starr and board members Hank Starr and Darwin (Darcy) Lone Bear have submitted letters of resignation from the board prior to their removal hearing.
Hoeven suspended the three at the end of February following their indictment by a federal grand jury for fraud and misappropriation of school funds. The three subsequently pled guilty to crimes in federal court and will be sentenced in September.
Three Affiliated Tribes Chairman Marcus Wells, Jr. had sent Hoeven a resolution from the Tribal Council and a request to remove the three pending the trial.
