Hoeven Statement On Tentative Farm Bill Agreement
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven today issued the following statement on reports that congressional negotiators have arrived at a tentative farm bill agreement:
“It appears congressional negotiators have arrived at a tentative agreement, and that’s a promising development. We have been pushing to get a farm bill that will provide strong support for our farmers and ranchers, and we will continue to lobby Congress and the Administration to get it completed.
“Now that the framework is in place, they still need to iron out the details. The Senate and Congress now need to vote on it as soon as possible, so that they can get it on the President’s desk. After all the hard work and effort that has gone into this important piece of legislation, it is encouraging to see that we are almost in the end zone.
NOTE: Hoeven yesterday sent a letter signed by nine governors to Congressional leaders urging a bipartisan agreement. He continues to stay in contact with Sec. Schafer and the Administration to press for completion of the bill.
