BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today joined the Council of State Employees in recognizing six state employees as recipients of this year’s Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Service for their dedication and contributions to the people of North Dakota. The awards were presented during a luncheon at the Capitol in Bismarck, kicking off State Employee Recognition Week.

He is responsible for leading the state’s emergency services response, and has been credited with instituting a department-wide strategic planning initiative and creating a culture of empowerment and opportunity for department employees.

Amy Anton is an Operations and Planning Chief with the Department of Emergency Services. Her leadership resulted in the delivery of critical personnel and equipment resources during the 2009 spring flooding, helping to save lives and protect property.

Jennifer Hooey is a Senior Residential Supervisor with the Department of Human Services, serving at the North Dakota Developmental Center in Grafton. For nearly 22 years, she has dedicated her career to helping others by providing direct care and services for people with developmental disabilities.

Jean Hagen is a secretary with Aerospace Studies at North Dakota State University and has been instrumental in overseeing the university’s Aerospace and ROTC programs.

Daniel Krogen is a custodian with Facilities Management at North Dakota State University and is recognized for his hard work and innovation, as well as his ability to find safer and more effective ways of fulfilling the department’s mission.

Jim Leingang is an electrician with the Facility Management Division of the Office of Management and Budget, and is instrumental in maintaining the electrical distribution system on the Capitol complex.

The award recipients were nominated by their peers and selected by a committee of judges who reviewed and scored the nominations. Nominees were rated on their overall job performance, contributions to their department, commitment to customer service, working relationship with fellow workers and involvement in their community.
