Lisa Feldner
Chief Information Officer, Information Technology Department
As Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Information Technology Department (ITD), Lisa Feldner oversees technology activities in state and local government, K-12, higher education, and manages a staff of about 300 employees. Her role as CIO provides her the opportunity to develop lasting partnerships with those entities to provide efficient and cost-effective information technology (IT) solutions.
Feldner also holds an important leadership role in coordinating major IT initiatives, including the Statewide Technology Access for Government and Education Network (STAGEnet), the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), ConnectND, and the Geographical Information (GIS) Hub. Additionally, ITD plays a vital role in centrally managing the State’s computer systems, standardizing IT systems, reducing duplication among IT systems, and delivers these types of services in a most secure and cost-effective way to state agencies.
Feldner holds memberships in the State Information Technology Advisory Committee (SITAC), North Dakota Education Technology Council (EduTech), National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO), North Dakota Association of Technology Leaders, North Dakota Longitudinal Data System Committee, Chairman of Criminal Justice Information System Board, and the National Association of State Technology Directors.
Prior to Feldner’s appointment as ITD’s CIO in April 2006 by Governor John Hoeven, Feldner served as the Technology Director for Bismarck Public Schools, where she managed the budget and staff, including the development, design, and integration of software and hardware systems for more than 13,000 users at 26 campuses.
Feldner has a bachelor’s of science degree in computer science, a master’s of science degree in mathematics education, and a doctor of philosophy degree in educational leadership.
